Mercy Bar Addison Texas

Filed under: podcasts — Administrator @ 2:24 pm

I did this interview for the CBS contest to get press credentials and I did not win. This longer version was edited by Mike at Podshack.com This is one of his best jobs yet.
Interview with Glen Agritelley owner of my favorite bar “Mercy” in Addison Texas. Glen describes the set up for this one of a kind lounge. Heavy thick velvet curtains greet you at the door. Shears (inspired by The Delano in Miami) separate the dining area for private parties. and a private lounge experiences. Custom Iron work and a chandelier resembling the ones at the Buddha Bar in Paris hangs over a dark oak table. Painting of Venus on the half shell taken from a painting in Pompeii Italy. 750 bottles of wine are stored behind the scalloped bar (inspired by a bar called “The Boundary in Memphis). A nitrogen based couvia system allows you to enjoy expensive wine by the glass. Glen also talks about his friend Bucky Barret who was his lead guitar player in the 80’s for Roy Orbison and the largest private collection of memorabilia in the world. How did “Mercy” get its name? Recording with Scotty Moore from Elvis’s band DJ Fontana The Jordinières and the rhythm section all together. The show ends with a song show time about 15min. **If you go to Mercy tell em you heard it on this Podcast**

  2. Andrew,
Your Cowboys stunk up your city on National TV last night. Didn’t know Dallas had something as cool as Mercy Bar. So why don’t you start using your camera on these sound tours like your Wildwood podcast.

  3. Andrew,
Thanks for doing this show on our favorite lounge in Dallas. As you know, aside from Italy, Mercy is the only place to enjoy a fine bottle of Tignanello.
Why didn’t you add our friend Chris the bartender to the show?

We have had some great times at Mercy and met so many new friends there.

Thanks Glen for bringing some flavor to Dallas. Class by the glass!!!!!!!

  5. Glen and Andrew,
This just great! Great photo, great interview!!! Really makes you want to come in to Mercy and wonder about what’s going on behind all the different shears. There is certainly a sexiness thing going on there… Almost mysterious… the unknown behind the shears… anything could be going on behind there. Very intriguing for both sexes. The scalloped bar……when you think about it… You CAN see everyone… Just all so well thought out. Absolutely my favorite bar! Seems like it’s Andrew’s favorite bar too.I was looking at the date on this. It was just released today. Congratulations on this! Glen, I thought it was very interesting! Really super cool for anyone who doesn’t know about it and vice versa. The stories behind all this with the one about Roy’s photo and buying a glass of champagne if you can find it…. to everything that is going on in there with the painting recreated from Pompei… I mean this was a truly cool interview. Whoever hears this will want to check Mercy Wine Bar out….. Once they’re in they’re hooked!

  6. After living in Chicago for some time, I have to admit that the Mercy Wine Bar is still one of my favorites. The 402 Wine Bar in Licoln Park (Chicago) comes only second to the decor and ambiance that Glen has created in his creative place of business in Addison.

Thanks Andrew for sharing Mercy with your audience. It truly is a superb place for a libation break.
